SPINEL FORMATION FROM COPRECIPITATED GEL

摘要
Magnesium aluminate as well as gamma alumina and magnesium oxide were prepared by the calcination of gels precipitated from corresponding chlorides with ammonia. The composition and structure of these oxides and their precursors were identified by X-ray diffraction and IR spectroscopy. Decomposition of investigated gels was followed by TGA and DTA. Spinel formation from coprecipitated magnesium hydroxide and pseudoboehmite (Mg2+:Al3+ = 0.5) occurred step-by-step at temperatures over 350-degrees-C and completed at 850-degrees-C.
