Tourism and development cooperation: An analysis of the benefits of ecotourism for destinations

摘要
Tourism is configured as one of the main economic sectors in the world. In recent years, new tourism typologies have been appearing. These typologies improving the socioeconomic development of the local community and the conservation of natural resources. Thus, ecotourism is one of these tourism typologies with these characteristics. The objective of this research is to analyze the positive impacts or benefits generated by ecotourism development to a destination. The methodology consisted of a review of the scientific literature. The results show that there are benefits for the destination, but only if the ecotourism activity develops properly, highlighting the importance of the local stakeholders for the proper planning of ecotourism in the destination.
