Optical parametric oscillators - General information, picosecond and femtosecond pulses

摘要
The basic features of the optical parametric effect (parametric gain, phase matching, nonlinear crystal, parametric bandwidth,...) and its application to the optical parametric oscillators and amplifiers are discussed in this paper. The different temporal regimes, from cw to femtosecond, are reviewed. Two experimental set-ups are presented : a picosecond optical parametric amplifier system delivering picosecond pulses tunable between 0.4 and 2.6 mu m and a femtosecond optical parametric oscillator from which pulses below 20 femtosecond are obtained from 570 to 680 nm.
