摘要
This article continues the studies of the Thoughts upon slavery written in 1774 by John Wesley, an Anglican priest and spiritus rector of the Methodist movement. We propose a new reading that focuses more on the original aspects of this legal-theological treaty, and its discourse, carefully constructed around the double emphasis on justice and mercy, understood as the essence of natural law, ergo, the superior principle for the English legislation.
