Ureteral obstruction as a complication of aortofemoral graft implantation develops more often than initially thought. The current literature reflects controversy regarding incidence as well as therapeutic method of choice. This retrospective study examined 10 patients who developed ureteral obstruction after graft implantation. The interval between the bypass-operation and diagnosis of ureteral obstruction was from 1 to 30 months (mean interval: 7.4 months). 8 patients were treated with double J-stents. Ureterolysis with intraperitonealisation of the ureter was performed in 7 patients. Obstruction was resolved in 6 patients and in 1 patient a nephrectomy had to be performed. A review of the literature is given and urological follow-up and therapeutic modalities in these patients are discussed.UreteraI obstruction as a complication of aortofemoral graft implantation develops more often than initially
