Carbon clusters are produced by laser vaporisation of the surface of a rotating/translating graphite disc into a high density pulse of helium. The present study illustrates the effects of mixing varying amounts of hydrogen into the helium carrier gas on the carbon nucleation products with particular reference to the behaviour of the small to medium sized clusters ranging from C-10 - C40 with the aim of verifying the existence of small fullerenes (even clusters, C(n), 20 < n < 32).
