THE INTERACTIONS BETWEEN SILVER AND ZIRCONIA INCLUSIONS AND THEIR EFFECTS ON THE TOUGHENING BEHAVIOR OF AL2O3 (AG+ZRO2) COMPOSITES

摘要
The toughening behaviour of Al2O3/Ag, Al2O3/ZrO2 and Al2O3/(Ag+ZrO2) composites has been studied. The toughness increase of the Al2O3/(Ag+ZrO2) composites is less than the sum of the toughness increase of the Al2O3/Ag and of the Al2O3/ZrO2 composites. It results from the interactions between silver and zirconia inclusions during sintering. In the present study the interactions between silver and zirconia inclusions are examined carefully. The influence of the interactions on the microstructure development and on the toughening behaviour of the composites is discussed
