SPONTANEOUS VESICLES FORMED FROM A SINGLE AMPHIPHILE

摘要
Accurate laser light scattering measurements on water solutions of the pure ganglioside GM3 show that vesicles are spontaneously formed and that the vesicle distribution chan es with temperature from 7°C to 50"C, with vesicle average diameters ranging from aggregates. No hysteresis effects are found and vesicles preparations are extremely stable. The interesting differences with phospholipid vesicles are attributed to the presence in the ganglioside of a hydrated hydrophilic head group of sugar type. © 1990 IOP Publishing Ltd.
