DEVELOPMENT OF A DECOMPOSITION STRATEGY FOR STRUCTURAL OPTIMIZATION OF LARGE STRUCTURES

This paper suggests a technique which decomposes the total optimization into smaller subproblems. Each subproblem is solved independently at a first step and then coordinated at another step. The advantages of this approach are a major reduction in total computation and better convergence characteristics during the optimization.
