摘要
Mastitis, inflammation of the mammary gland is responsible for major losses to producers. The present study aimed to investigate and identify the species of coagulase-negative Staphylococci (CNS) isolated pre and pos-calving mammary gland of sheep suffering from subclinical mastitis. We used 68 ewes Santa Ines and Morada Nova belonging to Embrapa Cattle Southeast, located in Sao Carlos-SP. Milk samples were collected 15 days before to weaning at 5 degrees and 30 days pos-calving (next station mounts). The results showed that CNS prevailed in all samples of milk head (48.1%, 53.6% and 57.1%, respectively). Among the species identified CNS, Staphylococci xylosus were the most frequent (30.0%, 35.5% and 27.6%, respectively).
