THE BAND-STRUCTURE CALCULATIONS FOR FINITE ONE-DIMENSIONAL CRYSTALS

The error involved in conventional band structure calculations for finite one dimensional crystals has been examined. Bloch function as a crystal wave function need modification because of non-applicability of Born-Von Karman boundary condition to a finite lattice. Two simple methods have been proposed for band structure calculations, which are expected to give the reliable description of energy levels of such one dimensional crystals.
