A FEM METHOD COMBINED WITH MODAL-ANALYSIS FOR EVALUATING THE DYNAMIC PERFORMANCE OF A PANTOGRAPH

摘要
A simple method for evaluating the performance of pantographs is proposed in this paper. The method, of theoretical kind, is based on the determination of the dynamic stiffness of the pantograph with finite elements programs. With this characteristic and the train speed known, it is possible, by a simple calculation based on proper simplifying hypotheses, to evaluate the possibility of contact loss of the pantograph from an overhead contact line of known elasticity. We present, finally, some examples which enable to evaluate the reliability of the proposed method.
