摘要
A model for the role of nonuniform particle distribution in plastic flow localization is introduced and analyzed. A comparison of the overall material ductilities, characterized by the remote axial strain when localization occurs, for clusters of particles and for nonuniformly distributed particles is presented. It is found that the nonlinear localization process is largely controlled by the most critical cluster of particles when the particles are nonuniformly distributed. An estimation scheme for the localization strain is proposed and verified for arbitrary particle distributions subject to remote triaxial tension. The model has potential for predicting localization strain for ductile materials.
