SILICON ISOTOPE GEOCHEMISTRY OF THE SULLIVAN PB-ZN DEPOSIT, CANADA - A PRELIMINARY-STUDY

摘要
The clastic sedimentary rocks of the Lower Aldridge Formation that host the Sullivan Pb-Zn ore-body have δ30Si values of 0 to 0.1‰, similar to silicon isotope ratios determined for other clastic sediments. The silicon isotope compositions of tourmalinites from the Sullivan area support a genetic model for their origin. The δ30Si values of altered rocks and minerals within the deposit provide insight into their protoliths. Hence, it is possible to use silicon isotopes to distinguish between silica derived from the alteration of clastic sediments and that derived from hydrothermal fluids, despite postdeposition alteration and metamorphism. -from Authors
