摘要
A controller capable of spline interpolation is implemented. The surface to be machined is represented by 3 D splines which can be generated from a set of control points. The algorithm for spline interpolation is a part of the controller and communicates the data directly to the controller in real time, thereby avoiding the need for large data files. In spline interpolation the tool moves smoothly from one point to another thereby eliminating any jerky motion. In this paper, the B-spline technique on which the interpolation algorithm is based is described first, followed by the interpolation algorithm, the system layout and an example surface.
