摘要
The glycosphingolipid (GSL) structure of isolated human term placental syncytiotrophoblast microvillous plasma membrane (StMPM) was investigated by Folch solvent extraction and thin-layer chromatography. StMPM preparations were shown to contain unique hydrophilic GSL species, including 2 highly glycosylated (> 15 saccharide residues/molecule) components. This fraction consistently included 4 major gangliosides (sialylated GSL), and 2 highly-sialylated (.gtoreq. 4 sialic acid residues/molecules) minor gangliosides.
