THE TEACHING-LEARNING PROCESS OF THE MOTHER LANGUAGE: THE READING COMPREHENSION IN THE STUDENTS OF THE PRIMARY BASIC LEVEL

摘要
Reading and writing are fundamental skills in today's society, they allow for immense communication possibilities. A good command of written language allows understanding the meaning of what is read and likewise transmit ideas so that others can understand them. Colombia has set itself the task of responding to the pedagogical phenomenon where it is intended to simultaneously face the challenges of quality and equity. To understand the problem of educational quality in Cali, an important indicator is the academic performance of elementary and secondary school students where reading comprehension is a scourge that needs an emergency response. This work addresses a diagnostic study on the development of reading comprehension in primary school students at the Educational Institution Cristobal Colon de Cali. The methods used were observation, interviewing teachers, pedagogical test to students and revision of normative documents, which made possible a general assessment of the origin of the problem, so that it serves as the basis for directing the educational proposals in order to raise the quality of mother language learning.
