NEW METHOD FOR ANALYSIS OF 1ST-ORDER AND PSEUDO-1ST-ORDER KINETICS

We have described a new method for the analysis of first or pseudo-first order kinetics: it is a combination of a differential and time lag method. It can be exploited graphically directly on the spectrophotometric recording. It does not require knowledge of Y-infinity nor recourse to linear regression. Moreover, computerization of the method for global second order kinetics allows us to detect the conditions where the pseudo-first order assumption becomes valid. An illustration of this property is given in the case of alcaline fading of crystal-violet.
