摘要
A process for grafting 2-propenamide to lignin has been developed. The method permits quantitative polymerization of 2-propenamide to produce both graft copolymer and homopolymer. In this paper the following are presented: the synthesis; characterization by ultraviolet spectroscopy, Kjeldahl assay, EDTA titration, and **1**3C-NMR; results of base hydrolysis; methods of dialysis separation; results of aqueous size exclusion chromatography on both standard and specially tagged samples; tests for initiator; and tests of the role of calcium chloride promoter.
