The behavior of Cs-137 during NH4Cl formation from the vapor is studied. In the presence of a carrier (1 mg Csl), two types of radioaerosols are formed: (137)Csl and Cs sorbed on metal oxides found in the support for the radioaerosol generator. Both form mixed-micelle aerosols with NH4Cl, the strength of which is different and probably determined by the surface properties of the radioaerosol. The ability of Cs-137 to form mixed aerosols with nonradioactive macrocomponents can be used to mitigate the consequences of accidents.
