摘要
Teflon bonded Pt - Ir bimetal catalyst-based porous carbon electrodes were fabricated and studied. Electrodes containing 2.5 wt % Pt and 5 wt % Ir were found to be highly effective for both hydrogen oxidation and chlorine reduction reactions. Under optimum experimental conditions, the H-2-Cl2 fuel cell gave a cell voltage of 1.0 V at a current density of 100 mA cm 2 for 300 h. These fuel cells find applications in the chlor-alkali industry, where hydrogen and chlorine are produced along with sodium hydroxide.
