摘要
This paper investigates the gravitational flow of granular materials in a plane hopper in two dimensions. The model materials are made up of spherical particles with perfectly smooth surfaces. The governing equations are similar to those used by Haff [1983]. In this analysis, the differential equation of motion is solved numerically with attention given to the effect of material parameters on the velocity profiles. Experiments were set up in an attempt to generate two-dimensional flow corresponding to this analysis. Several experimental velocity profiles were measured with walls varying in roughness. The numerical results obtained correspond to experimental measurements using peas and glass beads [Weisse, 1991].
