IR LASER-INDUCED PYROLYSIS OF CF3CHO AND CF3CDO IN THE PRESENCE OF OXYGEN

摘要
The infrared multiphoton dissociation ("cold pyrolysis") of trifluoroacetaldehyde and its deuterium-substituted analog in the presence of oxygen has been studied. The primary infrared multiphoton dissociations (IRMPDs) in the CF3CHOO2 and CF3CDOO2 systems are the same as those in CF3CHO and CF3CDO alone. The nascent decomposed CF3 radical undergoes a subsequent IRMPD, generating the CF2 radical. CF3 and CF2 react with oxygen to produce the oxygen-containing products CF2O and CF3OF, and traces of CF3OOCF3 and C3F6O2. Hydrogen abstraction from the substrate by an oxygen atom increases the decomposition yield of CF3CHO and CF3CDO. The competitive effect between the dimerization of CF2 radicals and the reaction of oxygen with the vibrationally excited CF2 radical has been investigated by employing the effect of the partial pressure of oxygen on the decomposition yield. © 1990.
