摘要：

This case provides an example of how a proximal interphalangeal joint arthrodesis can successfully salvage a limb and return a horse to serviceability after trauma-induced subluxation. This surgical procedure can also be successfully applied to other severe orthopedic problems involving the proximal interphalangeal joints of horses. The disadvantage of this treatment modality is the extended convalescent period that can require up to 1 year before return to soundness can be evaluated.
