Steady-state photoconductivity measurements in thin films of conjugated rigid-rod polyquinolines, poly[2,2'-(biphenylene)-6,6'-bis (4-phenyl quinoline)] (PBPQ) and poly[2,2'-(p,p'-stilbene)-6,6'-bis (4-phenyl quinoline)] (PSPQ) are reported. The photoconductivity action spectra in the wavelength range between 3 50 nm and 700 nm are presented. In both polymers the low energy threshold of photoconductivity is observed to be red-shifted with respect to the onset of strong optical absorption in agreement with other conjugated polymers. The effects of light excitation intensity and temperature on the photocurrent are also explored.
