This essay addresses the problem of creativity of man as homo instrumentalis, i.e. as the subject of tool- mediated activity. The analysis focuses on the phenomenon of typologically personified joining of artistic and meditative attitude to practically significant tool- mediated activity. Acting as a specific link between a person and the world, a tool at the same time isolates him/her in a situation of closed practice ('a tool capsule'). The function of the artistic imagination and philosophical reflection is actually in opening, 'uncorking' this 'capsule' in a way that would enable one to get involved in an integrated and creative contact with existence and him/herself as well.
