摘要：
Brittle fracture occurs in metal alloys under certain conditions by rapid advance of a sharp crack under the action of elastic energy accumulated in the system. This article considers the mechanism of brittle fracture and proposes a method of determination of brittle strength (sigma(br), N/mm2) for a material having internal defects. The relationship obtained is applicable to iron-base alloys.
