In this paper the theoretical parameters of the Z line shape, such as MZ and ΓZ, and the one photon exchange diagram are related to a set of parameters characterizing the experimental line shape. The latter are the peak height σmax, peak position {Mathematical expression} and half peak positions {Mathematical expression}. The rules of thumb are accurate within 10 MeV. As a result we obtain approximate formulae which express MZ and ΓZ in the measured {Mathematical expression} and {Mathematical expression}. © 1990 Springer-Verlag.
