The stress relaxation of CdZn alloys (with 2, 5, 10 at. % of Zn) is investigated at room temperature. Samples are deformed in tension at three initial rates (3.3 × 10−4, 6.2 × 10−4, and 3.3 × 10−3 s−1). From the stress relaxation curves the stress sensitivity parameter n is estimated. The parameter n is not constant during the stress relaxation test. The values of n decrease with decreasing stress during stress relaxation, which may be explained by assuming that two independent thermally activated mechanisms operate simultaneously. No effect of the Zn concentration on the stress sensitivity parameter n is found. Copyright © 1990 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA
