摘要：

This article describes and analyzes the practices in the right to free, prior, and informed consultation (fpic) of indigenous peoples. In the first place, it presents the foundations in different international instruments in this matter, as well as the criteria for an adequate consultation. Secondly, it considers the right to prior consultation and its differences with the binding consent of indigenous peoples. Finally, the article makes a brief conclusion.
