摘要
The 'Varicoloured Manganiferous Shales', cropping out at Monti della Tolfa (northern Latium, Italy) constitute the stratigraphic substratum of the Upper Cretaceous Pietraforte Flysch in the Ligurid nappes of the Northern Apennines. These shales are here renamed the 'Fosso Cupo Formation'. A detailed study of radiolarians and calcareous nannofossils permits assignment of this formation to the Turonian-late Santonian interval. Previous data indicated an uncertain age ranging from Aptian/Albian to Late Cretaceous. A new radiolarian subspecies, Crucella cachensis toljaensis, is described. © 1992.
