摘要
The intercalation compounds of the layered transition metal dichalcogenides (TX//2) exhibit intriguing fundamental properties including anisotropic superconductivity and charge-density waves. Redox reactions appear to be a general feature of molecular intercalation reactions with TS//2 hosts. The redox mechanism associated with ammonia intercalation of TiS//2 has been clearly demonstrated. TiS//2 - undergoes thermal deintercalation by the sequential removal of NH//3 and 'NH//4** plus ' at progressively higher temperatures. Only small amounts of polysulfides of H//2S were observed during intercalation and deintercalation, respectively, indicating the near quantitative nature of the above mechanisms.
