HYSTERESIS BEHAVIOR IN TRANSPORT MEASUREMENTS IN CEFE2 AND ITS ALLOYS WITH CO, AL, AND RU SUBSTITUTIONS

摘要
We report resistivity () and thermopower (S) measurements between 1.7 and 300 K on CeFe2, Ce(Fe1-xRux)2, Ce(Fe0.96Al0.04)2, and Ce(Fe0.8Co0.2)2 alloys. At low temperatures there is an abrupt loss of ferromagnetism for these impurity-substituted alloys, indicating that CeFe2 itself exists near a magnetic instability. Below 120 K, a marked hysteresis occurs near the temperature Tmin, where a minimum occurs both in the and S curves, which has not been reported so far. The range of this hysteresis, is strongly related to the temperature range over which ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic phases overlap in these alloys. © 1990 The American Physical Society.
