The authors report on a patient with a gastric schwannoma, both intra- and extra-gastric, presenting as an umbilical mass. They point out the rarity and diagnostic difficulties of this type of tumour. Treatment is exclusively surgical and the prognosis must be guarded as this is a potentially malignant tumour.
