JS']JSAH - THE SOCIOLOGICAL CHARACTER OF A JOURNAL

Journals as avenues for the dissemination of research provide the bibliographer a picture of content as well as several other features useful to the bibliographer’s mission as collection manager. Authorship of articles, notes, and reviews and institutional affiliation reveal the sociological nature of whose research has been published in any given journal. Such information permits a sounder appreciation of the social context of accepted scholarly work. The Journal of the Society of Architectural Historians (JSAH) analyzed for the above characteristics reveal à veritable map of its contributors and their institutional affiliations. With this information a bibliographer can gain valuable insight into the social nature of scholarly journal publication. © 1990 by The Haworth Press, Inc.
