Government regulations are the driving force for a rapidly changing technology upon which demands are made for improved coating performance that comply with regulations, at a reduced cost-a feat not easy to accomplish. The challenges exist not only for the coating manufacturer and applicator but for everyone involved with coatings including engineering firms, inspectors, consultants, the end user, and others. How the coatings industry handles these challenges going into the 21st century is up to each and everyone involved.
