摘要
Micro-coiled carbon fibers were vapor phase prepared using the catalytic pyrolysis of acetylene in the presence of a metal powder catalyst and a small amount of phosphorus impurity. Growth conditions and morphology of the obtained coiled carbon fibers were examined. Among the transition metal powders used, nickel was the most effective for the growth of the coiled carbon fibers and the maximum coil yield of about 45% was obtained using PH, as the impurity. The optimum reaction temperature and PH3 impurity flow rate was 650 degrees C and 0.01 sccm, respectively.
