摘要：

The objective of this paper is to present the capital as a relevant factor in the process of sustainable development. Through references of experts studies and researches on the subject, discussing the concept of social capital in the process of sustainable development. It was found that there is a consensus among experts the importance of social capital because it promotes cooperation, social networks, trust and higher level of learning by facilitating problem solving and the achievement of individual and collective goals.
