HISTORY OF SPORTS IN THE BRAZILIAN SERTAO: MEMORY, POWER AND OBLIVION

The Brazilian historiography of the sport has grown considerably in recent years. In this process, calls attention the almost complete absence of any systematic reflections about the sport history of some regions of the country, which is known to be of continental dimensions. Note, particularly, the absence of works regarding of a broad and geographically inaccurate territory called "sertao" or hinterland. From the study of the history of sport in Goias, this paper reflects about the effects this theoretical and historiographical gap.
