摘要
This paper presents systematic numerical simulations of the strongly swirling gas flows in a novel coal-fired vortex combustor (VC) recently developed for commercial heating applications. The non-isotropic turbulence of strongly swirling flows was closed by a new version algebraic Reynolds stress model. The calculated results, compared with the measurements of a 25 cm I.D. bench-scale VC test chamber, delineate the detailed effects of the center tube height and the flow rates of multiple air injection on gas tangential and axial velocities, flow pattern, pressure drop, and turbulent intensity.
