Sequential art and Liturgy: a practical theological reflection about the relationship between the cinema and the Christian worship

Cinema and worship as human activity are similar events. Both bring together people for a certain time, in a certain space in order to watch and live an experience that is related to a specific narrative and a series of acts. This article aims to address the relationship between cinema, as sequential art, and the Christian worship, as symbolic action, in order not only to draw parallels between the two events, but pointing means for the use of cinema in the liturgy. Concretely, two proposals for the German context will be presented: Filmgottesdienst (Worship-Movie) and the Videodrama. The article falls therefore in the field of Practical Theology and Liturgy and is divided into three parts: a theological reflection on the cinema; an approach to worship and socioanthropological aspects that approach it the cinema; and, finally, the presentation of two proposals for use of cinema in Christian worship community.
