Trajectories of Life and Profession of a Group of Students, Post-graduate Studies: A Look to the Light of Gender Relations

Although women configure a fairly significant number of workers in our country, the social constructions of gender that consolidate the role of women in hierarchically inferior to the man so still seem to have not been overcome. Given this reality that conform to female identity and professionalization, this research aimed at understanding, on the path of personal and professional lives of a group of women students in a program of post-graduate studies, as gender relations became present in their life courses. Qualitative in nature, the research used semi-structured interviews as a tool for data collection, seeking to raise, the reports of participants, the critical incidents that occurred along the trajectories of the constitution of their careers. As a result, it was observed that, despite the changes introduced in the areas of women's professionalization and also new models of family configuration, there was little redefinition of the social role of women, fitting them, even today, greater responsibility with caring for their children and home. It also appeared the persistence of prejudice regarding the presence of women in professions historically considered masculine.
