POSSIBILITY OF MEASURING THE MAGNETIC-MOMENT OF THE W-BOSON AT HEAVY-ION COLLIDERS

摘要：

We consider the possibility of measuring the magnetic moment at the W boson at a heavy-ion collider. We find that the cross section for the process Pb+Pb --> gamma-gamma --> e+/- nu-e-mu -/+ nu-mu is very sensitive to this parameter and that a 3-sigma measurement of 35% seems possible at the CERN Large Hadron Collider and a precision of 8% or so at the Superconducting Super Collider, given an integrated luminosity of 0.1 pb-1.
