The Keyfitz-Kranzer system of two conservation laws has the property that it can be written as a triangular system of equations that can be solved successively. In this paper, we show that the system reduces to a linearly degenerate system if the tension T is given by Hooke's law. This linearly degenerate system has a formula for time-periodic smooth solutions that are easily generated numerically.
