The main purpose of this research has been to know how students feel and think about their Physical Education (PE) classes and teachers. To this end, 788 middle school students (337 boys and 451 girls) were asked to complete an opened questionnaire regarding student's likes and dislikes about their PE classes. In the second part of the questionnaire the pupils had to state how they see the ideal PE teacher and what are, in their opinion, the three most important traits of a good PE teacher. A content analysis revealed that middle students enjoyed practicing team sports and having a variety of activities and games in their PE classes, while they disliked body warming ( running), theoretical lessons, and fitness test. From the pupils' viewpoint, the qualities of the ideal PE teacher were: kind, pleasant character, professional knowledge and cpmpetence, unsderstanding of pupils, good physical skills, interesting lessons, compliant with the school program, creative and innovator. On the other hand, pupils consider their PE teachers should participate practicing and demonstrating the exercises they propose in PE lessons.
