Dodecaammonium dihydrogen hexadecaaqua-29-molybdotetraeuropate(14-) tridecahydrate, (NH4)12H2[Eu4Mo29O100(H2O)16].13H2O, M(r) = 5731.0, monoclinic, C2/c, a = 19.539 (6), b = 43.31 (1), c = 20.358 (6) angstrom, beta = 117.88 (2)degrees, V = 15229 (8) angstrom3, Z = 4, D(x) = 2.47 Mg m-3, lambda(Mo K-alpha) = 0.71069 angstrom, mu = 3.97 mm-1, F(000) = 10424, T = 298 K, R = 0.065 and wR = 0.080 for 6705 independent reflections. The title compound is obtained from aqueous methanolic solutions containing [Mo7O24]6- and Eu3+. The central [Eu4(MoO4)(H2O)16]10+ core of the anion is coordinated by four heptamolybdate groups in the location of D2d symmetry. Each Eu3+ atom in the core exhibits ninefold coordination by O atoms belonging to H2O, MoO4 and Mo7O24 units.
