THE OCCURRENCE OF SOMATIC EMBRYOGENESIS IN THE SPECIES QUERCUS-CERRIS L

Induction of somatic embryogenesis was recorded in culture of cotyledons of immature Q. cerris embryos on WPM medium containing BAP, kinetin, IBA. After 7-8 weeks, the so for differentiated nodular structures continued their development by stages typical for zygotic embryos, up to the occurrence of embryoids with marked bipolarity. The cotyledon-derived culture preserved embryogenic activity after two years of cultivation, which is manifested in the production of adventitious somatic embryos. Germination of somatic embryos and production of normal regenerants had not been achieved. Along with somatic embryo differentiation, also the occurrence of various amorphous structures - hypertrophic, morphologically anomalous forms - was observed.
