A simultaneous analytical method was studied for the determination of 15 synthetic antibacterials in fish and meat using solid-phase extraction and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Using this HPLC method, the limits of quantification and detection were 20 approximately 70 ppb and 5 approximately 20 ppb, respectively. In the pretreatment procedure using solid-phase extraction, Sep-pak(TM) Alumina N was suitable for the clean-up procedure of the antibacterials from meat, liver, kidney and egg, Sep-pak(TM) CN was suitable for fish samples. Through pretreatment and analysis, the recoveries were 60 approximately 100% at antibacterials levels of 1 mug/g. The present method is simple, rapid and enables the simultaneous determination of 15 synthetic antibacterials within ca 100 minutes per sample.
