SEQUENTIAL SURFACE SEGREGATION KINETICS OF THE TERNARY-SYSTEM FE-SI-S

摘要
The sequential segregation of silicon and sulphur to the surface of a polycrystalline Fe-Si(0.4 at%)-S(200 ppm) was measured in the temperature range 873-1023 K by Auger electron spectroscopy. It was found that silicon segregates to the surface to be later replaced by the slower segregating sulphur. These results are interpreted and fitted by a kinetic ternary segregation model (MODAR) yielding segregation energies and diffusion coefficients for both species.
