SOCIAL-WORK MANAGERS AND UNIONS - TERRA-INCOGNITA

The relationship of social work managers to unions has received little attention in the literature despite the growing efforts by unions to organize the nonprofit sector. The author describes the historic ties between the labor movement and social work, as well as the current status of the labor movement in the United States. A model is presented that can help social work managers to deal with organizing activities directed toward the organizations in which they work.
